IRCA
Initiative for Relief and Climate Action (IRCA) is a registered non-profit local NGO operational in Somalia to address humanitarian and climate-related challenges. IRCA promotes environmental sustainability, climate-smart livelihoods, and improved access to WASH, Health, education, and protection services, particularly in vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities of Southern Somalia. Its programs ranging from emergency relief to food security, agriculture, and climate change mitigation apply participatory, community-centered, and strategy-aligned approaches to foster resilience, dignity, and self-reliance.
Initiative for Relief and Climate Action (IRCA) through Concern WW conducted a 5-day resilience planning training for local leaders in Huddur district with the aim to enhance the capacity of local leaders to effectively plan and coordinate climate resilience actions.

IRCA Program activities and Thematic focus
IRCA puts into operation in participatory approaches, strategic planning, and community mobilization to find solutions to community problems. It offers a range of programming and support in: Emergency Relief Response, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood Development, Health & Nutrition, Education, WASH, Protection and Climate change mitigations.
IRCA Programs target the most vulnerable underserved communities. IRCA considers Climate Change as an issue of highest relevance and works in its direction both in a full-fledge manner or as a cross-cutting theme in its other projects. IRCA works core programmatic areas as below:

Partners
IRCA has been actively engaged in building trust and confidence among humanitarian actors in Somalia while simultaneously seeking funding from various donors and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).

Funding Sources
The organization endeavors to secure funding from both international and local donors to sustain its objectives and activities. It has established accountability and transparency mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness of its projects. The organization maintains stringent financial management policies, systems, and control mechanisms. It fosters cooperation and working relationships with local businesspersons and international donor agencies. Through a fundraising strategy plan and the development of program development proposals, the organization has successfully attracted funds from various sources, including:
- International NGOs such as Concern and ADRA through the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA).
- Southwest Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
- Southwest Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
- Somali Diaspora Communities.
- Private Sector entities such as the Southwest Innovation Hub and Somali Economic Development Hub.
- These partnerships and funding sources contribute to the organization’s ability to implement its projects and initiatives effectively.
